Spectacular SUNPRINTS! How to make sun prints on fabric using paint

No need for special fabric or chemicals! We used an old pillowcase and acrylic paint to make these leaf and flower prints! And of course, the power of the sun 🌞

You can watch it all in our video below. We hope you enjoy this easy nature craft!

To make your sun prints on fabric, you will need:

Fabric (we used an old pillow case)

Acrylic paints (or fabric paint if you want to decorate a cool t-shirt or a bag!)

Brushes

Water in a bowl

Nature finds (leaves, flowers, small rocks)

A warm sunny day

Tips:

If the fabric dries out as you’re placing your leaves, spray it with water. It needs to be wet to work its magic.

It was a windy day so we used rocks but be careful placing them; they will leave a print too!

How does it work?

Water evaporates from the exposed surface of the fabric in the heat of the sun but not from the areas protected by the leaves/flowers/rocks. Water moves from the protected wetter area under the leaves to the drier open area, pulling the paint with it and making the print. It’s so fun to peel off the leaves and reveal the magic!

Making a bower bird den!!

Hi everyone.

I love spending time in the garden and today I am building a bower bird ‘den’. Bower birds are really cool. The male bird builds a bower to attract a female. They use twigs and lots of colourful objects to make a pretty display, and the female visits to see if she likes it! Then they go and use a different nest to lay eggs ad have their baby birds.

I had great fun building the little den and adding colourful bits I gathered from my garden (but not too many to leave some for the creatures that live there). Let me know what you like to do outside. I hope you enjoy my video.

Did you notice I kept saying bower wrong?

Firy, jungly, fishy mushrooms!

Hi everyone. I found some really cool stripy fungi in my garden and it inspired me to colour my own mushrooms!

There’s a flame mushroom, a fish mushroom and a jungle mushroom! There is also a little snail that’s coming to visit the creature that lives in the fish mushroom. I had great fun and I hope you enjoy it too.
